Solo Business HotlineSolo Business HotlineMentors who've done it

For consultants · coaches · creators · fractionals · and anyone getting ready

Unlimited calls with people who've already done it.

Tell us what you're stuck on. We match you with a mentor who has solved that exact thing in their own solo business. Thirty minutes, on a call this week, as many as you need.

Behind the calls is the Collective, a room of Gen Xers who left the corporate track and are funding the lives they want. That part has been running for years. The calls are what was missing.

$79 a month, or $500 a year. No pitches, no upsells, no contract. A single consulting call runs $200 and up.

First, what we're actually talking about

A solo business is not a startup.

It's how you fund the life you want. That's the whole job. Enough income, from work you control, in the fewest hours it takes to get there.

No employees. No investors. No five year plan. No exit.

And it has nothing to do with staying small. Plenty of solo businesses clear seven figures with nobody on payroll. Size was never the constraint. Headcount and hours are.

The trap is hours, not size

Plenty of people build something that pays well and eats every hour they have. That's not a win. That's rebuilding the job you left, except now you chase the invoices too.

Hours are the actual scoreboard

Every hour you don't have to work is an hour that belongs to you. Almost nobody keeps score that way, which is why so many people get out and end up just as buried.

The point is what it buys

Doing what you want, when you want, with who you want. Twenty five years in, you've earned that. The business is just the mechanism that pays for it.

Which is why friction is the enemy. Every week you burn guessing at something another solo could have answered in ten minutes is a week you don't get back. That's the whole reason this exists.

And you don't have to have left yet. The best time to ask these questions is while a paycheck is still covering the mistakes.

How it works

Three steps, and you're talking to somebody this week.

No directory to search and hope. No forms, no onboarding sequence, no waiting period. You join, you're in, and then you tell us the problem.

1

Join the Hotline

Seventy nine bucks, takes about a minute. No application, no discovery call, no sales pitch to sit through first.

2

Tell us what you're stuck on

Pricing, a proposal, a client gone quiet, whatever it actually is. We match you to a mentor who has solved that exact thing and get you on their calendar.

3

You're in the Collective too

Same day, no extra step. Peer groups, local chapters, working sessions, and a room of people building the same kind of business you are.

Thirty minutes means thirty minutes.

Nobody's dragging it out to seem valuable and nobody's watching a clock nervously. You get straight to it because you both know the shape of the thing.

Nobody is going to pitch you.

You've taken a free consultation before. You know how those end. Mentors here don't sell on calls and they're not fishing for work. The call is the whole thing, not the lead-in to something else.

Want to keep working with them? Go ahead.

If you hit it off and want to hire a mentor directly for something bigger, do it. You bring it up, not them. We don't take a cut and we won't get in the way.

The mentors

Not gurus. People a few steps ahead of you.

Every mentor comes out of the Collective and runs or has run a business of one. Consultants, coaches, fractionals, advisors, creators. They've priced the thing, sent the proposal, chased the invoice, and had the quiet quarter.

They've actually done it

Not theory, not a framework somebody read about. Every mentor has run a solo business and hit the same walls you're hitting. Most of them are still running one.

Vetted, one at a time

Nobody signs up and starts taking calls. Every mentor comes out of our community, and I talk to each one before they take a single call. Small and good beats big and random.

Matched to your question

Pricing questions go to somebody who's fixed their own pricing. Positioning goes to somebody who repositioned. You're not rolling the dice on a directory.

Want to become one? If you're a little further down the road, mentoring is the best business development you'll ever do that doesn't feel like business development. Come talk to us.

The Collective

The calls are new. The room is not.

Gen Xers who left the corporate track and are funding the lives they want. Same generation, same stage, same math. Everybody has a community. Almost nobody has this one.

Nobody here needs the backstory

Everyone in this room walked out of a twenty year career and started over. You don't have to explain the reorg, the age thing, or why you're not going back. They already know.

Everybody's playing the same game

Not headcount, not an exit, not a raise. Enough income in the fewest hours so the rest of the time is theirs. Some are at fifty grand and some are past seven figures. Same game either way.

Members hire each other

Referrals move through here constantly. Somebody lands a project too big for one person and pulls in two others. That isn't a perk we designed. It's what happens when capable people actually know each other.

Peer groups that keep meeting

Small groups, same faces every month. They know your numbers, your clients, and what you said you'd do last time. It takes a year to build that anywhere else. Here it takes one meeting.

Local chapters, in real rooms

Dinners and meetups in actual cities with actual people. Working for yourself gets quiet fast, and quiet is what takes most people out. This is the fix.

It's not a brand new room

This isn't a community that launched last month with an empty forum and a welcome thread. These people have known each other a while. You're walking into something already in motion.

Every community can give you people. This one gives you people and a mentor on the phone.

What it actually sounds like in here

Two kinds of help, and you need both.

What people bring to a call

One problem, thirty minutes, somebody who's solved it.

"I want out in 18 months. What do I actually need in place first?"
"What should I charge for this? I think I'm way under."
"My proposal keeps getting ghosted. Is it the price or the proposal?"
"How do I package this so it isn't just hourly work?"
"They offered me a package. Do I take it or ride it out?"
"One client is 70% of my revenue. How do I fix that without losing them?"

What never becomes a call

The other twenty nine days of the month.

"Landed a project that's too big for me. Who wants in?"
"Still in corporate and lurking. Anybody else leave at 54?"
"Anybody worked with a client in healthcare? Need a sanity check."
"Raised my rate today and I feel sick about it. Talk me down."
"Chicago people. Dinner next Thursday, who's around?"
"Signed the biggest contract of my life. Had to tell somebody who gets it."

The calls are for the thing blocking you today. The room is for everything else: the deal you want a second opinion on, the referral you didn't know was coming, and the Tuesday where you've talked to nobody and it's already four o'clock.

14 days to change your mind. Take a call in your first two weeks. If it wasn't worth it, tell us inside 14 days and we'll refund the whole thing. Annual included. No forms, no exit interview.

Fair questions

Ask away.

What if it turns out not to be worth it?

Take a call in your first two weeks. If it didn't earn its keep, tell us inside 14 days and we'll refund you in full, annual plan included. No forms and no exit interview. You should know inside one call whether this is for you.

Is there a size you have to be?

No, in either direction. Members range from first client to seven figures, all with nobody on payroll. The line isn't revenue, it's shape: no team to manage, no investors, no exit you're building toward. If that's you, you're in the right place.

Unlimited calls really means unlimited?

Book as often as you need. No credits, no per-call fee, no monthly cap. Most members do a couple a month and then go quiet for a while. Both are fine.

How fast can I get on a call?

Usually within the week, often within a day or two. You'll see open times and book the one that works. Written questions get answered inside 24 hours.

Is this another Slack group I'll mute in a week?

That's the right thing to worry about. The difference is the peer groups and chapters, which are small, scheduled, and the same people every time. You end up knowing eight people well instead of skimming four hundred.

Why the hard stop at thirty minutes?

Because it makes both of you get to the point, and because it's what lets mentors say yes to a lot of calls. An hour would mean fewer mentors and longer waits. Thirty is the trade that works.

Do I have to show up to anything?

No. Some people are in here every day and some surface twice a year with one question. Nobody's tracking your attendance and nobody's going to guilt you about it.

I'm still in corporate. Is this for me?

It might be the best time. Every question you answer now is one you're not scrambling on the week after you leave, and right now a paycheck is covering the mistakes. Plenty of members are still employed and building quietly. Members range from still-in to well past six figures on their own, and nobody here is going to tell you to quit.

What if I want to keep working with a mentor?

Hire them. Directly, on your own terms, no cut to us and no permission needed. Some of the best outcomes here start as a thirty-minute call and turn into something else entirely.

Stop losing weeks to things somebody already solved.

Thirty minutes with the right person beats three weeks of guessing, and you don't have to do the rest of it alone either. Come for the answers. Stay for the people who get it.

Take a call in your first two weeks. If it wasn't worth it, we'll refund you.
